High school student will teach us which candidate to vote

12:01:00 PM

There have been many open letters to the different candidates running for either national, regional, or even local government positions. Some of these writings went viral all over the social media whose purpose is to suggest and campaign or to expose flaws and disparage a candidate. Yesterday, another open letter was posted by Janina Vela Punzalan, a YouTube popularity known for her expertise in beauty, having more than 60,000 subscribers in her self-titled channel.

Janina, a 17-year old high school student, knew that she lacks a year to have the opportunity to vote, yet, she’s being aware of that the Election Day is dawning. To make herself clear, she found the metaphor of election in beauty in which she pointed out the why make ups are often used than skin cares. She addressed that make-ups cover imperfections – a sudden change yet temporary but costly in the long run, while skin cares correct flaws but people see it as inconvenient, time consuming, and also costly. But we are not willing to spend for long-term yet lasting change, so we are choosing shortcuts.
"Change doesn’t come overnight. Change doesn’t come in one person, it takes all of us, one small act at a time," she said, encouraging her viewers to be the leader they wanted to have in simple picking of trash and crossing the street in a right way. She did not point a candidate, but she challenged us to ask ourselves if our candidate is supports honor, justice, freedom, sacrifices himself for others, and submits himself to God. She wanted us to instill that there is a reason that we are Filipinos and we were born in this generation and we are here to love our nation, because no one else will.
